Center Street Clay is committed to Sandwich!

Although most workshops are geared towards ceramic students & professionals; Center Street Clay is committed to being a resource for our community. We offer classes for all ages. We have an ongoing relationship with Open Door Rehabilitation Center, offering classes for adults with developmental disabilities. We work with scout groups to earn badges. We are in the planning stages of offering birthday parties. We have the flexibility to plan a class around the needs of your particular group. If you don’t fit into a regularly scheduled class, talk to us!

Center Street Clay’s studio can be reserved as a meeting site for your organization. We would be happy to include a gallery tour and wheel throwing demonstration.

Please visit the website from time to time to check out our latest offerings!

            Wednesday 6:30 - 9:30

            January 6 - March 10, 2010

Class size: 8 maximum

Open studio: Tuesdays, 6:30-9:30PM

Cost: $300

This class is geared for the beginner who has never worked in clay before through the intermediate student. Small class size guarantees lots of personal attention for each student.

Included with class:

25 lbs. of clay. This should get the average student through about ½ of a session. In the beginning you will be re-using much of your clay as you practice technique. Extra clay is available for $13 for a 25 lb. bag, as you need it.

Bisque and glaze firing for the work you make. If anyone produces a large volume of work or exceptionally large-scale pieces we will negotiate a modest firing charge.

Center Street Clay has created an ideal environment for small groups to experience the joy of working in clay. We offer flexibility in scheduling and small class size for optimum personal attention. Our gallery features Steven Hill’s pottery and our 2-acre yard features Kim Miner’s sculpture, along with other regional pottery and sculpture.

We are located in the former Von Kleinschmidt Mansion at 218 West Center Street in Sandwich, Illinois. We are open by appointment and by chance. Knock—if we are here we will be happy to give you a tour. Better yet, call ahead so we can meet you at the door!

Center Street Clay is located just off of Rt. 34 in Sandwich, Illinois—50 miles southwest of Chicago.
